Reasons Not to Go

Why is it so gosh darn easy to be lazy? I have been really crappy about my gym time lately. During the past month, I have gone about once a week on average...and that's not good. So, after cringing at the sound of Foreigner on the radio upon waking, I made some sort of unconcious decision to be happy about the opportunity to get up so early in the A.M., rolled over and began crooning "I've been waiting for a 'boy' like you" to help Husband be happy about waking up too. (Yeah, that didn't really work!) I quite literally drug Husband, one foot and then the other out of bed this morning to go do PT.

And, as I sit here with my espresso, gathering the energy to venture outside, I can't help but think of some of the great excuses I have had for not going...
1. There's a tropical storm outside.
2. I worked all day and I'm too tired.
3. I had a late meeting so I deserve to sleep in.
4. Oops, I "forgot" to leave in time for class.
5. My MP 3 player's broken and I can't run without music.
6. I really need to clean the house.
7. The plants need watered worse than I need the gym.
8. The couch is just too comfy.
9. I need to balance the checkbook.
10. The shorts I want to wear are dirty; I should do laundry instead.

Well, no more excuses. I am off to wash my face and go get my spin on!

Happy Monday

I love my life!!! No one reason in particular, I just love my life. I love my job. I love my friends. I love my husband and kitty cats. I love my family. How's that for an early Monday morning post? It's really foggy and kind of dreary today too and I am actually excited about it. Why? It means that I can twist my hair up and wear glasses to work today (instead of contacts). Half full...that's (almost) always my answer. Oh yes, happy day, happy day!

Turn Signals and Red Lights

So, I hate drivers. I seriously think that drivers in NC are the worst I have ever seen in my life! Am I crazy to think that a person should use a turn signal when switching lanes on the beltline around Raleigh in the middle of rush hour? Nah, a person simply changes lanes without out even looking to see that the girl slightly in front of them in the next lane, with her turn signal on, is starting to move over. Sometimes I wonder if I just got too used to being fully aware of everyone around me while driving on the Autobahn, then I think to myself," Self, no, drivers around here are just plain stupid."

And then there is the case of the guy hauling two lawnmowers in the back of his truck who doesn't stop for a red light. He just slows down and makes his right hand turn when he gets to the stoplight. Who cares if there is a little silver car with the right of way that he makes slam on its breaks and move over. Then when the car's driver looks over to make a dirty face because she is so incredibly pissed off, the driver is leaning against his open window talking on his cell phone.

I think I have about 50 other similar stories. But, I won't bore you. Consider this your warning...if your ever traveling through North Carolina, beware of the drivers.

Working Girl

Just a quick note because I have found myself very busy this week. It is a good busy though, and I am very excited about what is happening. I was offered a position as Field Director with the Girl Scouts on Tuesday. I actually started working on Wednesday (yesterday). And, I have my first meeting with some of the volunteers this evening and a conference to attend on Saturday. The position itself is quite similar to what I did as a volunteer with Army Family Team Building, just on a much larger scale. I know that I have just entered the honeymoon phase, but I think this is going to be a great job!
